FRAMEWORK PLAN
VISION
Our vision for the Site is to create a well-connected and walkable community, with new homes set within an attractive network of green spaces as part of a landscape-led masterplan, where the Site’s existing features will help to create character. This will be supported by investment in infrastructure in this location, improvement in road junctions, walking/cycle routes and public transport.
We are proposing a new community of approximately 550 homes, a mix of family homes, apartments and provision for the elderly, in response to identified local needs. 40% of the new homes will be designated as ‘affordable’, to help address Solihull Council’s housing waiting lists. Apartments are proposed on the Stratford Road and Dog Kennel Lane frontages – closest to public transport, walking and cycle routes and local facilities. This will include focal buildings, which will create character and form key gateways within the site. The new homes will be set within an attractive network of green spaces, play areas and habitats for wildlife. A focal green space and local equipped area for play is to be provided at the heart of the scheme.
The existing bridleway will be retained and enhanced as a key green corridor, with the current public right of way providing a link to the new primary school, shop and facilities proposed on land to the west. Further pedestrian/cycle links on to Stratford Road and Dog Kennel Lane are also planned.
The local road network will be improved, alongside investment in walking and cycle routes and bus services.
